BIONOVA – Technical Assistance Program (TAP)

TAP allows life sciences SMEs to apply for small project funding to engage technical expertise that is not available within their company. The technical expertise received is intended to allow the company to overcome an immediate challenge that is acting as a barrier to commercialization. This program provides direct financial assistance for approved projects that seek to resolve an issue that is hampering product development, and is critical to commercialization. Projects that will be considered include those that engage a subject matter expert to help with: science and / or engineering challenge experiment design prototype development advice other assistance of a technical nature that cannot be solved with in-house expertise

Black Business Initiative Constructing the Future Training

Constructing the Future is a program aimed at increasing the participation of working age tradespersons in the mainstream economy of Nova Scotia. It will equip existing and aspiring tradespersons from the Black community with enhanced skills, basic certifications and competencies to establish a stronger presence in Nova Scotia’s construction sector.   This program offers participants hands-on work experience through eight weeks on-the-job training. Participants receive a stipend (weekly allowance) while undertaking the program. Participants build the required confidence, skills and knowledge to work in the construction sector: secure a job, start a business, or go back to trades school.

Canada Green Corps Program

If your business or non-profit organization is looking to reduce its environmental footprint or increase sustainability, you can apply for a wage subsidy to hire an eligible youth. Eligible employers must:   Offer meaningful work experience Offer a 4 to 6 month term Pay a portion of the youth’s salary   Eligible participants must: Be between 18 and 30 years of age Be legally entitled to work in Canada Not be a full-time student or co-op student

Canadian Heritage – Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages

Your incorporated private business or non-profit organization may be eligible for a wage subsidy to hire a bilingual summer student. To be eligible you must:   Offer 30-40 hours a week of work for a period of 6-16 weeks Conduct activities in both official languages   Once enrolled, you will have access to a pool of talented and innovative youth.

The Cape Breton Partnership is a referral partner to Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) Category A of the Global Talent Stream. This is a program for innovative companies hiring unique and specialized talent to help the firm scale-up and grow. The Global Talent Stream offers timely, responsive and predictable client-focused service to help an organization access highly-skilled global talent to expand their workforce here in Canada and to be competitive on a global scale.

Cape Breton Partnership – Safety First

The Safety First Network will demonstrate Leadership by providing safe work environments for employees, distributing online newsletters to share with industry about safety related topics, highlight the work of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education and the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and showcase the safety champions in the Cape Breton region.
