Music Nova Scotia – Business Development

The Business Development component provides up to a 50% level of investment to a $5,000 maximum per applicant per deadline for corporate development projects and other initiatives geared toward the marketing and promotion of the applicant company and its services.

Music Nova Scotia – Business Travel

The Business Travel component provides up to a 50% level of Investment to a $5,000 maximum per applicant per Music Nova Scotia fiscal year for domestic and international music industry conferences and events, as well as business trips for the company’s general market development.

Music Nova Scotia – Marketing Support

The Marketing Component supports up to 50% level of investment which is for export-ready artists, developing artists (Level II) and record labels by contributing to the costs of the marketing and promotion of a Qualifying Album. $10,000 maximum for Export Ready Applicant (or eligible music company) per Deadline $5,000 maximum for Developing Artist Level II Applicant (or eligible music company) per Deadline Only the party that controls the commercial release rights and exclusive exploitation rights to the sound recording at the time of application may apply.

Music Nova Scotia – Mentorship

The Mentorship Component supports up to a 75% level of Investment to a $15,000 maximum per applicant per deadline for developmental employment relationships between developing and export-ready artists/companies/entrepreneurs (Mentee) and mentors in which a more experienced music industry professional (Mentor) shares information, skills or knowledge and standards or best practices that will advance the applicant’s career, enhance their education and build their networks. The applicant (Mentee) should receive the primary benefit of the mentorship. Eligible applicants include Developing and Export Ready Artists/Companies/Entrepreneurs. It is mandatory that all applicants to the Mentorship stream contact the Program Manager in advance to discuss their mentorship project to ensure you and your proposed activity are eligible.

Music Nova Scotia – Showcase Support Stream

The Showcase Support stream provides up to a 75% level of Investment to a $5,000 maximum per applicant per deadline for domestic and international showcase performances.

Music Nova Scotia – Tour Support Stream

The tour support stream provides up to 50% level of investment which is for domestic and international tours: $10,000 maximum per Export Ready Applicant per Deadline $5,000 maximum per Developing Artist Level II Applicant per Deadline

National Angel Capital Organization

National Research Council Canada – Youth Employment Programs

You could receive a financial contribution towards the salary of a post-secondary graduate to help you research, develop and commercialize new technologies, or to hire a youth to work on a green project. To be eligible, your business needs to:   Be incorporated and for-profit Share a portion of the salary costs Have 500 or fewer full-time employees Be ready to enhance its innovation capacity   The duration of the internship must be between 6 and 12 months for graduates and between 3 to 6 months for Youth-Green candidates. Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30.

Natural Resources Canada – Green Jobs — Science and Technology Internship Program

If you operate a business in the geomatics, geology, mining, forestry or energy industry, you could get between $12,000 and $15,000 to hire a recent university or college graduate in a natural science field for an internship of up to 12 weeks. In order to be eligible, you need to:   Have a project with clearly defined objectives and outcomes Hire and train an intern who is no older than 30 Provide a work plan and budget (including the salary paid to the intern) Supply at least the same amount of money as you receive for the intern’s salary

Nova Scotia Apprenticeship – Apprenticeship START Program

The objective of the Apprenticeship START program is to encourage employers to register, retain and support their apprentices to completion during their apprenticeship journey. The START program has a focus of small to medium-sized businesses/organizations including not-for-profits, social enterprises and JRA holders (JRA employers only – an employer is someone who hires an apprentice permanently) that have business locations and jobs in Nova Scotia. Companies with headquarters outside of Nova Scotia are eligible to apply only if they also have a physical location in Nova Scotia.
