The CDÉNÉ provides services to existing and potential businesses and entrepreneurs to support them in the development and success of their business or entrepreneurial initiatives. Our business advisors can:

Help develop feasibility studies and business, marketing and strategic plans
Provide advice on how to start, grow or improve your business
Provide mentorship for new entrepreneurs
Lead professional development sessions
Provide information funding sources and subjects related to entrepreneurship (statistics, demographic data, etc.)
Put you in contact with people and agencies that provide additional services

CDÉNÉ also provides economic immigration services to employers / entrepreneurs in Acadian and Francophone communities.

Membertou Entrepreneur Centre

The Membertou Entrepreneur Centre’s business development program includes customized business training and workshops and one-on-one support for new and existing businesses in the Membertou community. Several times a year, orientation sessions are held in Membertou for anyone considering starting a business. A person can then be approved for a training program of up to 12 weeks to assist them in preparing a detailed business plan. The Centre works with Aboriginal Business Canada, Ulnooweg Development Group and other federal, provincial and community economic development agencies on investment capital and funding to new business ventures.

Music Nova Scotia – Skills Training

Music Nova Scotia has created a Basic Training program to help artists and aspiring music industry professionals develop their skills and knowledge. Moving forward, applicants to Music Nova Scotia’s investment programs will be required to complete Basic Training sessions in order to be eligible to apply to our investment programs. All previous applicants will be eligible to continue to apply at their current level (Artist Development, Artist Development II, and Export Ready).

National Research Council Canada – Youth Employment Programs

You could receive a financial contribution towards the salary of a post-secondary graduate to help you research, develop and commercialize new technologies, or to hire a youth to work on a green project. To be eligible, your business needs to:   Be incorporated and for-profit Share a portion of the salary costs Have 500 or fewer full-time employees Be ready to enhance its innovation capacity   The duration of the internship must be between 6 and 12 months for graduates and between 3 to 6 months for Youth-Green candidates. Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30.

Nova Scotia Apprenticeship – Apprenticeship START Program

The objective of the Apprenticeship START program is to encourage employers to register, retain and support their apprentices to completion during their apprenticeship journey. The START program has a focus of small to medium-sized businesses/organizations including not-for-profits, social enterprises and JRA holders (JRA employers only – an employer is someone who hires an apprentice permanently) that have business locations and jobs in Nova Scotia. Companies with headquarters outside of Nova Scotia are eligible to apply only if they also have a physical location in Nova Scotia.

Perennia Training Services

Perennia’s team develops and delivers workshops, field days, tours, short courses, training sessions and conferences, often in partnership with industry or government. Perennia has a number of workshops and training topics that can be customized or delivered by our specialists and associates to your group, agency or company.

Prince’s Operation Entrepreneur

Prince’s Operation Entrepreneur is a national program for transitioning Canadian Armed Forces members interested in starting their own business. It offers the education, tools and resources needed to succeed as an entrepreneur.

Sydney Makerspace

The Sydney Makerspace gives Cape Breton start-ups, entrepreneurs, students and other creative minds the place, equipment, materials and education to let them design and build innovative products. The 4,000 sq.ft. space in Sydney includes a general work area, a tool library, a metal working shop, a selection of woodworking tools, an electronics/robotics lab, as well as 3D drawing and printing abilities. Discounted memberships are available to students, educators, Veterans, seniors and partner groups (Centre for Craft and Design, Island Sandbox, Navigate, New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation and Mentor Connect)

TIANS- Tourism Seasonality and Labour Project

The Cape Breton Partnership can connect you to Valuable training opportunities and human resources tools provided by the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) and Nova Scotia Tourism Human Resource Council (NSTHRC), with support from the Nova Scotia Department of Labour & Advanced Education (LAE).   Regularly $25 to approximately $100 per module, these products are available for free for Cape Breton Businesses.   Full Details on the Cape Breton Partnership Website.   Available Items: E-Merit.ca Modules:  the most comprehensive industry-developed training available anywhere in the world.  Topics such as Food & Beverage, Sales, Housekeeping, Event Management, and more!
