Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design – Studio Rental

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design houses five state-of-the-art studios, including pottery, metal and glass, weaving, printmaking and multipurpose. When not in use for scheduled classes and workshops, the studios are available to rent by artists or recreational craftspersons wishing to work independently.

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design – Trade Missions

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design may provide financial assistance to craft businesses that wish to participate in trade activities that will help to develop international markets for their craft products. Activities eligible for funding include wholesale trade shows and other activities that involve the participation of international buyers. The level of non-repayable assistance will normally be up to a maximum of 75% for the first time a business participates in a mission, up to a maximum of 65% for the second time, and up to a maximum of 50% thereafter.   The eligible costs for assistance are travel, accommodation, booth fees, and freight up to a specified limit. Only 3rd party bills will be considered for freight. The business is responsible for 100% of all other costs such as meals and entertainment.

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design- Succession Planning

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design (CBCCD) may provide financial assistance to Cape Breton craft producers who wish to plan for the future of their businesses after retirement and pass on their craft to someone with intent to take over the pre-existing business. This funding will assist in the planning of your business’ future. The level of non-repayable assistance will be up to 75% of costs to a maximum of $2500. The eligible costs for succession plan development include direct costs associated with the creation and/or development of a succession plan and consultant services.

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design- Website Development

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design (CBCCD) may provide financial assistance to craft producers who wish to participate in website development that will help to further promote their products and businesses. The level of non-repayable assistance will be up to 75% of the costs to a maximum of $5,000 for new websites and up to 75% of the costs to a maximum of $2,000 for an existing website. The eligible costs for assistance for website development are for the development of new websites or the enhancement of a craft producer’s existing website.

Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative

The Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC) supports members of the Cape Breton music industry by providing them with the training, information and resources needed to establish themselves as viable industry professionals and to succeed in business. Throughout the year, CBMIC offers:

Business development workshops for new and existing musicians
Collaborates with partners to host business-to-business meetings for Cape Breton musicians with incoming buyer delegations during the East Coast Music Week, Nova Scotia Music Week and Celtic Colours
Hosts showcases where Cape Breton artists can apply to participate
Offers the Product Development Program to offer a funding assistance program to Cape Breton artists who are planning on recording new music product for the purposes of artist development and export growth opportunities. Potential eligible costs under this program are studio prep and recording time, engineers, producers, equipment rental, studio musicians, mixing, mastering, video production, editing project and art work both digital and print

The Cape Breton Partnership is a referral partner to Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) Category A of the Global Talent Stream. This is a program for innovative companies hiring unique and specialized talent to help the firm scale-up and grow. The Global Talent Stream offers timely, responsive and predictable client-focused service to help an organization access highly-skilled global talent to expand their workforce here in Canada and to be competitive on a global scale.

Cape Breton Partnership – Safety First

The Safety First Network will demonstrate Leadership by providing safe work environments for employees, distributing online newsletters to share with industry about safety related topics, highlight the work of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education and the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and showcase the safety champions in the Cape Breton region.
